Rental Policy

Rules and guidelines for renting equipment through Selos.

Last updated: February 2025

This Rental Policy applies to all equipment and service rentals completed through Selos Rentals. By making a booking, you agree to follow these guidelines. Equipment owners must also comply when listing and fulfilling rentals.

1. Eligibility

Renters must be at least 18 years old and have a valid Selos account. For certain equipment (e.g. heavy machinery), you may need to provide proof of licence or competency as required by the owner or local laws. Equipment owners must have the legal right to rent the listed equipment and ensure it meets safety and regulatory standards.

2. Booking and Confirmation

A booking is confirmed when payment (or required deposit) is received and the owner accepts the request where applicable. You will receive a confirmation with rental dates, pickup/return details, and the owner's contact information. It is your responsibility to review the listing and confirmation and to raise any questions before the rental start date.

3. Rental Period

The rental period is as stated in your booking (e.g. daily, weekly). Equipment must be returned by the agreed date and time unless an extension is agreed with the owner and reflected on the platform. Late returns may result in additional charges as specified in the listing or agreed with the owner.

4. Use of Equipment

Equipment must be used only for its intended purpose and in accordance with any instructions provided by the owner. You must not sublease, modify, or use the equipment for illegal or hazardous activities. You are responsible for the equipment during the rental period and must take reasonable care. Damage or loss due to misuse or negligence may result in repair or replacement charges.

5. Pickup and Return

Pickup and return location, times, and procedures are as agreed with the owner. You should inspect the equipment at pickup and note any existing damage. At return, the owner may inspect the equipment. Disputes about condition should be reported through the platform with photos or evidence where possible.

6. Insurance and Liability

Details of any insurance or damage waiver (if offered) will be in the listing or booking. Renters are encouraged to understand what is covered. Selos does not provide insurance for rented equipment; coverage is between the owner and renter unless otherwise stated. You may be liable for damage or loss during the rental period as per the listing and our Terms and Conditions.

7. Owner Responsibilities

Owners must ensure equipment is safe, properly maintained, and accurately described. They must honour confirmed bookings and be available for handover and return as agreed. Owners must comply with applicable laws, including tax and regulatory requirements for equipment rental in Ghana.

8. Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellations and refunds are governed by our Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy. Please refer to those documents for timing and eligibility.

9. Violations

Failure to comply with this Rental Policy may result in cancellation of bookings, suspension or termination of your account, and where applicable, liability for damages or losses.
